Creative Arts

Igniting Imagination, Nurturing Expression
The creative arts are an integral part of life at Alleyn Court. We believe that every child has a creative spark and that fostering imagination, building confidence, and developing self-expression are just as important as academic and sporting achievements. Our dedicated specialist teachers inspire a love for Art, Music, and Drama, providing a rich and diverse curriculum that allows every pupil to explore their talents and find their voice.
Nurturing Our Young Artists
Our art curriculum is designed to teach fundamental skills while encouraging every child to develop their own unique style. Pupils study the work of a wide range of artists, from Picasso to contemporary artists, gaining an appreciation for different styles and techniques. Our art studio is a hub of creativity, where children are empowered to experiment, create, and display their work.

Our Artist in Residence
Leading our outstanding art department is our talented and long-serving Artist in Residence, Mr Larwood. With over 36 years of experience, Mr Larwood has created a thriving department and an atmosphere more akin to an art college than a primary school. His passion and expertise are instrumental in inspiring our pupils' artistic journeys.

Enriching Art Trips
We firmly believe in taking learning beyond the classroom. Our pupils enjoy enriching art trips to prestigious venues such as the National Gallery and the Tate Modern, providing them with invaluable real-world inspiration.

National Recognition
We are incredibly proud of our pupils' success in national competitions. We have celebrated multiple pupils winning first place and receiving commendations in the ISA National Art Competition.

Display & Celebration
We believe in celebrating every child’s efforts. Every pupil's artwork is proudly displayed in our school halls, creating an inspirational and joyful environment.
Music life at Alleyn Court
Music is a vital part of daily life at Alleyn Court, taught and enjoyed with passion. Our curriculum is designed to be exciting, ambitious, and diverse, giving every child the opportunity to experiment with instruments, compose their own music, and understand the power of sound.

Dedicated Music Lessons
From our youngest pupils in Nursery to our Year 6s, every child receives weekly music lessons with a specialist teacher.

House Singing Competition
One of the most joyful events of the year, our annual House Singing Competition brings the entire community together for a brilliant display of creativity, teamwork, and spirit.

Instrumental Lessons
We offer a wide range of peripatetic instrumental lessons, from piano to the trumpet, taught by professional musicians.
Drama and Performing Arts
Drama at Alleyn Court goes beyond the stage; it is a powerful tool for building communication skills, confidence, and empathy. Our pupils develop an appreciation for storytelling, poetry, and performance in an environment that is supportive and fun.

Show-Stopping Productions
Our pupils shine in spectacular productions, with recent performances of Shrek the Musical lighting up the famous Palace Theatre. The talent, energy, and professionalism of our pupils on stage were a testament to their dedication and our outstanding drama program.

LAMDA Examinations
We are proud to offer Speech and Drama lessons as an optional extra, and pupils are encouraged to take LAMDA examinations, which measure progress against an international standard and are a fantastic way to develop confidence and communication skills.
