Admissions FAQs

This content provides answers to the most common questions from prospective parents, helping to clarify the admissions process and the day-to-day experience at Alleyn Court.

The Admissions Process

How do I apply for a place at Alleyn Court?

The admissions process begins with completing a registration form and paying a non-refundable £50 fee. Once registered, a letter will be sent to acknowledge receipt. Approximately six months before your child is due to start, the school will contact you to confirm your interest in the place and arrange for a deposit to be paid. The school can also arrange for a taster day for a prospective child at any time by arrangement with the Headteacher.

Is Alleyn Court a selective school?

No, Alleyn Court is a non-selective, co-educational school for children aged 2 to 11 years old. While we welcome all children, our admissions are at the discretion of the Headteacher.

Do you have a waiting list?

Class sizes do not usually exceed 20 pupils , so if a class is full, parents will be advised about the waiting list. Siblings of children already at the school are given priority admission, and all other applicants are ordered on a "first come, first served" basis.

School Life

What are your class sizes?

Our average class size is 17 pupils, with a maximum class size of 20. This ensures that every child receives the individual attention they need to thrive.

What are the school hours and do you offer wraparound care?

The school day starts between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. for Nursery, and at 8:30 a.m. for Reception. The school day for these year groups finishes at 3:00 p.m.. We also offer a Breakfast Club starting at 7:30 a.m. and after-school clubs are available for children in Upper Nursery and Reception until 4:45 p.m..

What is the school uniform policy?

Alleyn Court requires a school uniform that is both smart and practical, helping children feel proud to wear it. Uniform is a commonplace requirement for independent primary schools in the UK and can be a significant added expense, which is why second-hand uniform sales are a common way for parents to manage costs.
