Alleyn Court has an excellent reputation for sport, which included winning the Independent Schools Association Sporting School of the Year 2018 and becoming the first Southend school to be awarded the School Games Platinum Award for outstanding sporting provision
The school offers a wide range of sports from our Pre-Prep and achieves notable success in local, regional and national fixtures and competitions. An extensive games programme promotes exercise as an enjoyable pursuit for lifelong health and happiness.
Boys play football, rugby, hockey and cricket as their main sports, whilst girls play netball, hockey, cricket and rounders. Boys and girls also participate regularly in cross-country, basketball, gymnastics, tennis and athletics within their PE lessons
Each pupil receives 3 ½ hours of curriculum PE and Games each week, with the opportunity to take part in much more in our extensive extra-curricular programme. All pupils in the main school are all given multiple opportunities, every term, to represent the school in competitive sport, this is made up of fixtures against other local and independent schools (including A, B, C & D teams, ensuring whole year groups get selected), ISA competitions, our AC competitions and other school tournaments.
The PE and Games department is made up of qualified and dedicated teachers and coaches, who go out of their way to give each pupil the love of sport.
We are proud of our extensive fixtures programme, offering all our pupils the opportunity to compete against a range of other Independent and local schools. We have built up great relationships with sporting associations and schools to provide these fantastic opportunities.
Alongside the fixtures below, the pupils at Alleyn all play competitive 'House' fixtures on a regular basis. Each pupil is placed in one of our 4 Houses: Rankins, Tremaynes, Pearsons & Williams.
