Introduction

We are a dynamic, exciting and fully inclusive department, giving every child the opportunity to experience expressive arts.

At Alleyn Court, pupils have the chance to encounter the 'smell of the grease paint' and the 'roar of the crowd'! We create many production and concerts throughout the school year, to encourage the growth of our children's self confidence and sense of achievement.

Some past productions have included:

Oliver, Grease, Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, My Fair Lady and Joseph.

2011 will see us bringing our adaptation of the classic musical, 'The Wizard of Oz', alive on stage. This exciting venture will see performances from pupils in Years 5 and 6.

At Alleyn Court, we are committed to finding new performance experiences for our students. In 2010, we made our first visit to The O2 Arena, in London, to take part in the 'Voice in a Million' event. This involved our choir singing, along with 5,500 other children, for a national children's adoption charity. This was such a popular experience, that we returned in February 2011, with a larger group and performed with over 7,500 others!

This was an inspiring, exciting and unforgettable day. Not only can the children say that they have performed at one of the world's most prestigious venues, but also, they have learnt about the work of this charity and their efforts to help children less fortunate than themselves.

We actively encourage pupils at Alleyn Court to learn musical instruments, with demonstrations from respected performers and teachers, leading to many of our students taking the opportunity to study the piano, violin, trumpet, voice, drums, guitar, to name but a few.

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated, professional team of teachers who visit our school to deliver these lessons.
