Pupils study the weather in Geography lessons in the Pre-Prep, Junior and Senior sections of the school and will definitely benefit from this new addition to the school‘s weather equipment. In particular, the accuracy of the recordings will enable Year 6 pupils to evaluate their own efforts in recording the weather during their microclimate sur- veys around the school site. The data that is recorded will also be of great value to all pupils when carrying out data handling projects in Maths, Science and ICT lessons.
The equipment and software is currently being tested before being installed in a permanent location. Pupils have already been evaluating the best site to locate the weather station with the Sports Hall roof being the preferred choice of many . conditions and 48 hour forecasts for school‘s website which will help us make our own accurate forecasts - for the days when the BBC gets it wrong! Once again, I‘d like to thank the school parents and pupils for their support in making projects like this possible. I have a keen interest in analysing and predicting the weather and am very excited about shar- ing this passion with the pupils of the school.
