Please remember that the school has a policy where children must not return to school within 48 hours of vomiting or diarrhoea. There have been a number of recent incidents where there have been transgressions in this regard. There have also been a few cases of chickenpox recently and the advice here is that children should not return until all spots have scabbed over.
Slap cheek has also made a recent appearance and I request that parents respond to the appropriate NHS guidelines on how best to deal with this.
Where we wish to have a healthy school, we appreciate your assistance and support in keeping poorly children away from school. This is absolutely essential in some cases where we may have pregnant mums and staff members, for whom illness such as these mentioned can be quite serious.
On the theme of healthy schools, I note that a number of children are still bringing crisps and sweets as snacks. Once again I remind you that I would expect to see children eating healthy snacks such as fruit, crackers, rice cakes and vegetable sticks rather than sugary snacks. However, strawberries, kiwi fruit and nuts should be avoided for allergy purposes.
